We had arranged a trip to Khulna and the Sunderbans with a travel agency and the set-up was to drive to Khulna (drive, boat, drive). Stay in Khulna city at Hotel City Inn for one night. The next day we drive to Mongla and from there take a full day trip on a boat through the Sunderbans which is a wild life heritage with mangroove forests, canals and huge wild life habitat. This is also where the Bengali tiger resides. We had planned a hike trough the forests where we might be able to spot monkeys, deer, birds, crocodiles and if very lucky the famous tiger.
The next morning we all got up very early. Our driver waited for us at 7 am and we drove through Dhaka while teh city was waking up. There are constantly people everywhere and no one is inactive. We drove for about and hour and a half through crazy traffic. Pedestraíans, children, animals, bicycles, bicycle rickshaws, motorbikes, motorized rickshaws, cars, buses and trucks where all sharing roads which had to rules or organization at all. People also pack things on their heads, on the bicycles, on their cars, people are sitting on top of vehicles and on enormous buses. Passing, passing, passing in high speed in any lane makes you scared at every single second and sometimes it is a matter of hundreds of seconds that makes or breaks it. I thought we would never make it! It was absolutley horrifying!
My pictures below does not show this as I did not sit with my camera during the actual drive. All I focused on was "Please let us survive!!!". I only took pictures before, during the boat and during meals.
